II.16: Of the unreal there is no being; the real has no non-existence. But the nature of the both of these, indeed, has been realized by the seers of Truth.
II.17: But know that to be indestructible by which all this is pervaded. None can bring about the destruction of this Immutable.

II.18: These destructible bodies are said to belong to the everlasting, indestructible, indeterminable, embodied One. Therfore, O descendant of Bharata, join the battle.

Summary of this lecture:

The spiritual life means life based on the REAL rather than on the apparent. In every perception there are the 5 components: Is-ness (asti), awareness (bhaati), attraction -- or its opposite (priya), name (naama), form (roopa). Of these the first three are contributed by the all-pervading Reality - Brahman while the remaining two are the product of illusion. The all-pervasiveness of the Indestructible Existence can be easily understood by seeing that all the names & forms, and so all the limitations, belong only to the changing and thus perishable realm. The Indestructible has to be therefore beyond all limitations of space and time and thus must be everywhere.
The practice of the presence of this indestructible principle is to be done gradually, step by step and in a psychologically suitable way. The 18th verse gives the first step: Feel the 'body' and the 'dweller' in it as separate entities. The body changes continuously, the indweller remains the same. Understanding of this distinction will pave way to feel and then experience the Real which is beyond all names and forms and yet pervades them in and through.
