VI.25:
One should gradually withdraw with the intellect endowed with steadiness.
Making the mind fixed in the Self, one should not think of anything
else whatsoever.
VI.26:
The yogi should bring (this mind) under the subjugation of the Self
Itself, by restraining it from all those causes whatever due to which
the restless, unsteady mind wanders away.
VI.27:
Supreme Bliss comes to this yogi alone whose mind has become perfectly
tranquil, whose (quality of) rajas has been eliminated, who has become
identified with Brahman, and is taintless.

Summary
of this lecture:
Training the mind is of utmost importance for our spiritual development.
We need to bring the mind under our control for focusing it on God alone.
Controlling the mind and not destroying it, is what we need. It is a
real challenge! Rather than putting intolerably great pressure and strain
on mind and breaking it in the process, we should gradually bring the
mind under control. We must work gradually and according to our own
individual constitution. Perseverance, determination, and great patience
are the hallmarks of this practice: The aspirant must be determined
to reach the goal of God Realization. He must not give up, even when
the mind runs rampant and it seems like he will never reach the goal.
When the mind is drawn toward external objects, he must pull it back
and re-focus. Finally, he must not expect Realization to come quickly
and without great effort. How can we be happy to spend 15 years working
towards a high school diploma, yet expect spiritual wisdom to come quickly?
This is foolish and unscientific; we must be patient! With determined
practice, the mind will gradually come under control. Only then will
we be able to experience the supreme Peace and ultimate bliss that comes
with living a God-centered life.
